Vlogging in, Blogging out.

I'm not using this blog anymore. Go to my YouTube channel for my videos! http://www.youtube.com/justinschmidt85

Living out loud.

I've decided to make this blog more than just my polyphasic crap. It's going to be about my transgender and gay issues, and maybe whatever other crap on the side. You know, a place where I can vent.

I'm so sick and tired of my homophobic family, homophobic school, homophobic town. I feel like they're all stuck in the 70s and 80s. They're conservative and old fashioned. It makes me feel claustrophobic. I can't be me. I can't be Angel, the androgynous/transgender androphilic person that I am, I have to be Justin, the random gay dude who know one knows.

Blargh. D: Well, that seemed depressing. Now on to happy stuff. My party is tomorrow. I'm probably getting a digital camera with a camcorder thing on it. AND. I came out to all my friends and everything about being transgender/genderqueer. :D They all took it well. Some of them are like uhhhh what? but most are like I knew it. :)

Well, that's all I can think of right now without babbling. I'll be going now. Maybe I'll update later from my phone. ^_^

movin' to Iowa!!!! :)

Yeah, you read that right. My dad got the job offer in Iowa, and it's pretty obvious that he'll take the job. I mean, what other choice do we have?! :P But I won't be moving until like right after christmas. =]

I'm having trouble deciding on what schedule to choose. Gar. There's so many good ones! :D
Well, I'll update tomorrow. I'm off to the store and then I gotta bake some cakes! :D

Hexadecaphasic16 naps; every 1.5 hrs; 5 minutes each1.3 hrsFeasibility under dispute
Nocturnal Multiphase1 core sleep, 8pm-12am, and two daily naps of 30 minutes each, once at 7:30am and once at 3:30pm 5 hrsI made this schedule. 1 week adaptation. Requires social life reduction.

everyman for now, uberman(?) later. and stuffs.

Alright. I stayed home sick today; I'm coughing, sneezing, snorting (snot, that is), and lazing around. I've been having a total off day. I slept from about 1 this morning til about 10, and then I just lazed around the house like I had something to do.

So I figured out that besides last night, I've been on everyman for a while now. About 4 hours of sleep at night, give or take half an hour, and then 2-3 naps during the day, depending on my schedule. I'm going to stick to this for a while, and then I will switch to either Dymaxion or Uberman. Maybe even Tesla.
:3

I really want to make a chart of sleep schedules on here, just because I can. :D

Good news --- My dad is getting an offer for a job in Iowa. Bad news --- He might not take it because his salary would be lower than what he gets on unemployment/disability/social security. :/ The other choice is California, in which his salary would be $110k per year, plus however much I make when I get a job. :P

That's it for now. I'm making a chart of the sleep schedules then I'm heading off for a short nap + dinner. Love you guys <3

Polyphasic pioneering.

So I've been thinking, and I kinda want to start my own polyphasic schedule... Like decaphasic, and pentaphasic. I'm leaning towards decaphasic. Naps of either 5 or 10 minutes each. That would make them more school friendly. :D

Pentaphasic - 5 naps, 10 minutes each. 12:00am, 6am, 11am, 2pm, 7pm. Or something like that. Pretty much all 5 hours apart besides the 11a and 2p naps. That would be very feasible for me :)

Decaphasic - Ten naps, 10 minutes each. 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm. :D I don't know. I'm still workin this stuff out.

Wait --- instead of trying to plan out the naps, why don't I sleep deprive myself for a night and then take naps whenever I see fit. Yus? :DD i'm so excited. But I need to get better from whatever i'm sick with right now before I move out of monophasism permanently.

I missed school today, mostly because i'm sick but also because there was a video presentation I made and I can't stand seeing or hearing myself so I just avoided it ;)

For right now, I'm off to nap. I'm very, very, very tired. :[ even though I just slept 10 hours. O.o

ahhhh! uberman, day two.

i over slept last night. 1am-ish to 9am. i nearly missed my last driver's ed drive.
oh well.

naps;
11:30-45 slept for maybe ten minutes of it, woke up on time.
7:30-45 i didn't sleep for it but i got up on time and felt rested up. :)

i'm doing 15 minute naps, if you couldn't tell, six times a day. 3:30, 7:30, and 11:30 am and pm. :D
i'm super excited. i'll post more later. ;D

Un-announced hiatus

Sorry for the short leave, all. I'm back. Vegan, jain, and re-attempting triphasism or dymaxion. Whichever I end up being able to do...

I'm pulling an allnight tonight since both of my parents are gone tonight. :) I can do it this time; music and my other nocturnal friends are helping. =]

i'm not dead, i promise!

sorry i haven't blogged in a while, y'all! i've been really busy with school, driver's ed, friends and... life in general.

here's how things went from the 14th til now, and my weekend plans:
Wednesday(14th)- School, PSAT, Church, Homework
Thursday(15th)- School, Driver's Ed, Errands with Dad, Homework
Friday(16th; today)- School, Library, Home (Dinner), Shopping, Homecoming game, Blogging.
Saturday(17th)- Drive (for driver's ed), shopping, homecoming
Sunday(18th)- Church, homework, blogging

Yeah. Might not sound so busy.... but it is. I'm piled in on homework... just from missing one day. MONDAY. a freakin week ago! gaaaah! >_<

Oh well. Anyways. About my multiphasism. I've been consistently sleeping about 6 hours a night with little to no napping during the day. Monophasism =
HOWEVER. My parents are gone tonight which allows for me to stay up all night so I can either go for Everyman sleep or Dymaxion sleep. I'm not quite sure which. :p I think Dymaxion would be easier to schedule but harder to adhere to, and vice-versa with Everyman. Oh well. I have atleast 2 or 3 more hours. I can figure it out :D

I'm taking a girl out to homecoming tomorrow and I'm going to ask her out. :3 I'm quite fond of her and her personality. When we hold hands I get a warm/fuzzy feeling inside. Oh, is it love? xP Gaaaah, well, I'mma research some more for now. Talk to you fools later ;)

Stuff.

Hey y'all. Today was insane! Woke up late for school, got tons of make-up work for missing yesterday, and then driver's ed. And running errands for the family. Gah! :p

In all the hassle and confusion, I decided that now is not the best time to fast, but I will be doing Daniel Fasts every wednesday and friday as per the Holy Orthodox Church. :3 Considering Monday too! :D

Well, i'm trying to continue on in multiphasic sleep. Still not sure what schedule to use since my daily schedule changes... Well, daily. So its hard to plan for it. As of right now, I'm biphasic. Sleep about 6 hours at night, and about 15 minutes or so during the day. :) maybe as the months go by I can slowly ease into everyman and then dymaxion? Only God knows.

I am starting to not feel well, and the swine flu is rampant in my town, so pray for me please... I can't afford to miss anymore school, let alone homecoming... OOOH! I got asked to homecoming by a girl named Miranda. I like her. Woot. :D

Well, my fingers hurt from typing so I'll update y'all tomorrow. Goodnight, blog buddies.

Water fast length.

After extensive research this evening, I have decided to make my fast ten or 14 days. Can't decide which. But i'm so excited! :D and I think i've settled on biphasic/everyman sleep. :) well.... I can't write very much tonight but i'll update tomorrow. :3 good night, blog buddies.

my vacation + water fast.

my vacation was awesome! :) went to the beach and stuff. had a grand ol' time. i also drove all the way home. woot woot! I kept to my schedule (semi-polyphasic/biphasic). On the drove over I slept for about 20 minutes, and then at night I slept 1:30a-4:30a and then about 5a-7a. Today I haven't napped or anything, which I somewhat regret... but I think that after falling asleep whenever tonight, if I wake up at night or early morning, I'll stay awake after that. =]

Over the course of the weekend, I have decided to return to the Orthodox Christian church. :D I feel so drawn to it, yet I don't want it, but I feel spiritually emaciated without attending and such. :p I'm going to vespers on wednesday evening and then talking to Fr. David after the service. :) I'm very excited.

Last but not least, I'm going to water fast this school week (and possibly the weekend, as well). I feel spiritually called to it, and I also realize that I need to detoxify my body, because I've been sluggish and slow to respond to things lately, and it's time to just reboot my body. However, I'm adhering to my multiphasic sleep; henceforth, this week will be hell. :) But I can make it through, and it'll make me a stronger person because of it. I'm so excited. I start tomorrow after breakfast. I'm so scared that I'll drink too much water/juice though.... :( Oh well. We'll see what happens.

For right now, I'm off to talk to friends and do some homework from friday! Ciao, blog buddies.

gah! biphasic?

So last night, I slept from 1:30 to 5. I should have woke up, but I didn't.... I slept until 7. Now I am paying for it. I feel totally exhausted, and I think I'm going to end up napping on the drive to Sheridan. :P

But I got to thinking, and I'm not quite sure if freerunning is my best interest. I have parents who are very anti-polyphasic, so sticking with biphasic or triphasic sounds best for me. It enables me to live a multiphasic lifestyle but doesn't interfere with my family life. ya know?

I think that all in all, being biphasic is easiest. :D Ya know, I can have an afternoon nap whenever I'd like, and a core sleep 2a-5a. I can be a night owl AND an early bird! My parents don't ever have to know anything, either. :D

Anyways, living on a sleep-restricted schedule for the past 4 days (thus far), I do not have any significant changes in appetite or reflexes. However, I do seem to notice temperature changes easily, and I'm more susceptible to being cold or hot than normal. Also, it's somewhat difficult for me to concentrate. :( I'm sure it will wear off though.

I'll update you all later, probably after my nap.

Freerunner, henceforth.

As you could have guessed by the title, i've made the decision to become a freerunner. I have no set nap times or nap lengths. I think that just sleeping for a lil bit when i'm tired is best, and only every once in a while would I ever sleep like a pig (more then 3 hours at once).

Today went well! I woke up and went strong through most of the day, and then slept for an hour and a half before dinner. Strangely, I am now extremely tired. Maybe my wacky sleep schedule is catching up to me now. *shrug*

Well. Actually, I'm waking up a bit. Maybe i'll text and surf the web for a while before I hit they hay for a few minutes. ;D

One last thing. I'm super excited to see how my polyphasic sleep works out this weekend (on vacation). We'll see :) I'll be able to continue blogging, since I have mobile email, btw. =]

Ciao for now, blog buddies.

switching schedules? oh, and plurk!

i've decided maybe i shouldn't try dymaxion right off the bat. i should switch to everyman first, and then maybe switch to dymaxion afterwards. :) so now i'm shooting for a core sleep of 3 hours @ night (about 1:30-4:30am) and a single nap during the day.
:D
i think this will work out better for me.

oh, and you should join plurk. it's amazing. :D

Day 3?

Overslept again last night :/ I just gotta stop laying down, or being even close to bed. Okay, so, change of plans. I'm on vacation on saturday evening, sunday, and monday. :p I get to skip school monday!!! Woot!

Well, i'm taking my midnight nap tonight and then i'll stay awake i'm sure of it, this time. :)

End of day 2.

STATS: normal appetite, concentration, and reflexes. Very hyper during mid-day (11a-1p)
--------
I'm running into a dilemma. My block 3 nap.... I don't always have a solid way to wake me up. I'd use my phone to wake me up, but the vibrate doesn't annoy my brain enough to make it do something! (i'm not supposed to be polyphasing so using an alarm would be bad..... :P)

I really am at a loss for what to do. Does anyone have suggestion(s)? D:<

Anyways. I'm not really too tired, so i'm going to push my block 4 nap to 3am and then push my block 1 nap to around 8 or 9a-ish while I'm on the bus to see a friend. :) tonight, I am making sure to keep my head up, away from comfy places. No more repeats of last night! Haha.

I've also been deep in thought as to if I should abolish use of my bed altogether, because I certainly can't use it for block 2 or 4 naps.... And as for block 1 and 3 naps... They're both at 6ish, so I could probably work that but I don't wanna risk. Especially when there's no obligations that day... I'd be at too much of a risk to oversleep. I don't know. I'm on the floor for another week or so while I adjust anyways. =D

I really, really, really hope I adjust and continue on dymaxion sleep so that I can be the first long-term dymaxion sleep besides buckminster fuller! :D well, the first that has made a documented journey of it. :P I chose dymaxion because everyman didn't save enough time, and uberman was too short of wake periods, too short of naps, and too common. Dymaxion is more intense and less tried/done, so I obviously chose it. =]

I really wish I wasn't living in such an anti-polyphase house. If my parents and sister were more accepting of it, then I could ask one of them to awake me from block 4 nap (the one at midnight), and therefore eliminate worry about oversleeping and what not. :) but hey, who knows, maybe they'll change their minds. Haha.

This seems like a really long blog (judging from my phone screen). Sorry if it seems i'm rambling. Just gotta have something to do. Ciao, everybody. =]

day 2... *sigh*

Hey everybody! Day 2 is upon me. I crashed last night somewhere between 12:30 and 1:30... I let myself lay down and stop listening to music. Bad decision! Today, I will stay awake until 11:30 and then wake up at midnight, and actually sit up and do things until 5:30, then take my block 1 nap. :) But on second thought, I'm not all that tired so I might not do my block 4 nap (11:30-12a)

Good news! My lit teacher is allowing me to nap in her room, which now sets my biggest challenge at the 11:30 to midnight nap. I've heard of sitting my phone inside my sock on the bottom of my foot, and having it on vibrate. the bottom of my feet are very sensitive, so that should work. if not.... well, i'll take that on when it comes to it.

Overall, I don't feel that me sleeping 6 hours this morning has set me off, except that I'm not like totally exhausted right now. :p

I'm gonna be facing the challenge of keeping to my schedule this weekend, being at my great aunt's and all. She's very relaxed about alternative lifestyles, though, so more than likely she'll grasp my polyphasism with open arms :D

Well, I'm off for the moment (phone difficulties!). I'll update you all later tonight.

At night.....

I'm lying here at nearly midnight, not tired in the least bit, but realizing that I'm going to need to use this blog as a tool to keep me awake through the night watch (midnight to 5:30am).

I'm going to write whenever fatigue sets in, so as to avoid falling asleep. Otherwise.... Hopefully dancing along to music can keep me awake! LOL. :3 i'm so lame. Oh well.

So, today was awesome. Math was lots of fun (with taressa) as usual. Oh, and i emailed my lit teacher asking if its okay to take naps in her room at lunch. Pray that she says yes! :p

Well, that's all I have for right now. I shall update y'all later. :)

day 1.25

i'm not sure if you guys know what polyphasic sleep is, but here's a run down of it, and the different types of polyphasic sleep. then i'll go on to talk about my first day:

Polyphasic sleep is the practice of sleeping multiple times in one 24 hour day in short periods. Monophasic sleeping is what most of the world is used to (sleeping between 7 and 12 hours every night). Polyphasic sleepers sleep anywhere from 20 minutes to 1-3 hours at a time multiple times a day. This is done to save time throughout the day, or adjust to a harsh work schedule.

Popular types of polyphasic sleeping include:
Everyman - Consists of a core sleep during the "normal" sleeping hours of either 1.5 hours or 3 hours, and 2-3 20 minute naps spaced throughout the day.

Uberman - Consists of 6 20-minute naps spaced 4 hours apart, through the day. Some people extend this to 25 or 30 minutes, depending on their circadian rhythm.

Dymaxion - 4 30-minute naps, taken every 6 hours. This is what I'm doing. Some people extend this to 45 minutes or one hour each, but I view this as a waste of time, and not necessary. Sleep is a bad habit!

Biphasic - Consists of 4-6 hours of sleep at night, and a mid-afternoon nap of 20-30 minutes.

Free-running - This type of Polyphasic sleep includes sleeping whenever you want for however long, multiple times a day. However, this type of sleep doesn't allow for routine and makes the body very, very sleep deprived and there is nobody who has done this type of sleep for an extended period of time.

-----------------

I just took my first nap from 8:30-9pm daylight savings time (normally pacific time) tonight! i have been very tired all day from waking up at 6, so a nap did my brain + body good. i woke up and felt as if i were on fire, but that feeling went away, as well as the initial drowsiness normally felt upon waking up, and now i'm pumped full of energy!

hopefully my lit teacher will let me make use of her room during lunch, so that i can take a nap. otherwise, i may have to bend my sleep schedule. you see.... i'm at school from 7:30am til about 3:30pm, give or take a half an hour. that's about 8 hours, which would definitely ruin my dymaxion sleep schedule (especially while i'm trying to get used to it!)

thus far, i see my schedule as such:
5:30am-6am
12pm-12:30pm
6pm-6:30pm
12am-12:30am.

I may need to switch my schedule around, depending on how my family is doing things and how often i am able to actually meet those guidelines. for right now, that seems reasonable.... but since my nap was 8:30 to 9.... that might offset things. potentially 3:30pm to 4, 8:30pm to 9, 5:30am to 6, and 12pm to 12:30? that would make my "night watch" (the chunk of time when i'm awake in the night) very long (8 hours) which I'm not sure I could handle. Hm. Thoughts, anybody?
